GREEN SKEENGreen Skeen was a Plastique Fantastique collaboration with the collective artist 0[rphan] d[rift>]. Green Skeen begins with an all-night ritual to summon a Green Skeen tech-animal, which is released into the dawn light of a summer’s morning in London. Green Skeen is a four-legged, long-necked, small-snouted screen with a furry-filament body that receives images, messages and intel from virtual dimensions. Living wild in the city, the tech-animal grows and changes, but remains in a state of neoteny. One year later Green Skeen is summoned once more through a ritual in one of London’s flagship computer stores, turning all goods, people, buildings and even the sky into a Skeen. A rough cut of the film was showed at Supernormal festival, Oxfordshire in August 2016 and at the BC Time Slip project, Dynamo Arts Association, Vancouver in September 2016. The final film was showed as part of the two evenings of performances, ‘Skeen Nite (Cum)’ at Southwark Park Galleries, London, November 2019 and ‘Skeen Nite Too (Cum)’ at Rhubaba Gallery, Edinburgh, April 2019. Green Skeen was also shown online in April 2020 as part of the ‘Today is our Tomorrow’ festival, curated by Publics, Helsinki. The images in this sequence are all stills from the final film (with credits in the final image). |
